The Weaving Wizard
There was once a beautiful city in the North of the North,
with a rocky castle and fine stone houses. The people of the
city were many and prosperous, but there were also those who
were poor and felt excluded. And the people toiled at many
different things and in many different groups. Living amongst
the people was a weaver, and the weaver was known for working
with imagination, and with spirit, and with care. People would
come to the weaver and ask him to work with them. “Weaver,” they
would say, “we are falling apart.” Or “Weaver, we are like
separate threads in a bunch. Can you help?”
And the weaver would sit with the group, and they would
strengthen the threads that held them together. And with him
they would choose their yarn, or decide the pattern of their
cloth. And afterwards they would say “Thank you. It’s been magic
to have you here, but we’re OK on our own now.” And the weaver
would say “Thank you. It’s been magic working with you, and I’ll
leave you to it!” Matthew Haggis
